Might Linux go wrong to detect a PCI card plugged into a PCI expansion card?
It's a winmodem. That's a piece of apparatus that behaves similar to a modem but needs Windows to gross it work. Linux can see it, but doesn't acknowledge it as being a modem. If you survey the Linux sites, you may well find some code that will breed it work, but you'll need to do some tweaking of the kernel. If you use Mandriva Linux, their (paid for) club have driver packages for most winmodems.
As I recall, Linux wants to be restarted (or the service using the PCI card needs to be restarted) to pick up up to date devices.
It's been awhile though, but, it might be worth a shot.
