My desktop keep varying to red?

Umm...I've see this happen to computers beside a loose connection on the monitor cable. Check the monitor (VGA) cable running from your monitor to your computer. Usually the computer come to an end of the cable is loose...and the connection newly sort of barely connects and jump back and forth. I've see blue, red, yellowish/green, etc. from this happening. Every time, it be a loose monitor cable that was merely barely connecting plenty to get a peak display...but not enough to display the logo as it really should look.
a virus
Could be a virus or it could be your monitor is starting to die on you. They typically start doing that when they are about to die. I have an old monitor that eventually give everything on the screen a pinkish hue.
Check to see if the cable running from the monitor to the PC is connected properly.

If it is loose, the pins that control the color spectrum can hold a bad nouns causing the color to transmutation.

If it is connected securely, try wiggle the cable while watching the monitor as the cable might have a short contained by it as well.

Also if cable or adapter have gone bad this can begin
Its one of three 1) video connection 2) monitor 3) video card 1) As mentioned check video cable first 2) Take monitor to another computer and try it at hand, 3) replace video card with an ancient pci card you know is good, if it works in good health then its the video card
