I enjoy windows XP installed on another tough drive that doesnt have RAID, my primary vista hard drive does.
If i put this regular SATA drive next to the RAID-0 still plugged in will i loose background on the RAID drive?

Yes, when you change the configuration of the drive the mugging controler will be considered that it is a 'raw' drive. If you do not do anything to the drive, ie: partition it and format it the facts will not be erased and you can change your mind.
